To generate interest in Masonry, the Rites and the Shrine, a series of “Masonic Unity Nights” are planned. Oasis Shrine Clubs will partner with the Membership Team to plan and execute these events.

The event is divided into two parts: Promotion and Program.

THE PROMOTION

Shrine Club Nobles will visit area lodges and personally invite the Brothers and their families, co-workers and friends to your Shrine club for a Masonic Unity dinner. A custom flyer will be printed for your use. (See sample)

Encourage all Nobles and Ladies of your Shrine Club to attend and bring their family and friends.

Your Shrine Club will invite representatives from a few Shrine Units who will talk about and perhaps demonstrate what their units do.

The SheikS Club (new Shriners) will be invited to every Masonic Unity Night.

The Oasis Membership Team will send two Phone Tree messages to every Oasis Shriner in your county and surrounding counties of your choice, to advertise your Masonic Unity Night.

The Shrine Club will designate someone to take reservations. The reservation telephone number will be printed in the brochure and announced in the Phone Tree messages.

THE PROGRAM

DINNER

Your Shrine Club will cook a meal and charge an appropriate price. Consider a lower price for children under a certain age.

UNIT / CLUB PRESENTATIONS

Guest unit(s) will discuss their activities and answer questions.

The host Shrine Club will speak about their activities. (other speakers might include the Potentate or Divan Representative, Past Potentates, York and Scottish Rite representatives, Grand Master, Imperial Divan Representative, DDGM or DDGL, Lodge Masters and Past Grand Masters)

SHRINERS HOSPITALS FOR CHILDREN

The Membership Team will present the story of Shriners Hospitals for Children and show a 20 minute video documenting the experiences of two Shriners Hospital patients. The Membership Team will provide a big screen with professional sound system for showing the video.

LITERATURE

The Membership Team will bring Shriners and Shriners Hospitals literature to hand out.

OPTIONAL PROGRAM ITEM

On a Friday or Saturday Night, at your Shrine Club’s option, The Membership Team will provide a DJ for music and dancing.

The Membership Team goal is to have at least one Masonic Unity Night at every Shrine Club. We are willing to put on the program any night of the week to avoid the weekend congestion in Masonic schedules. There are approximately 300 Lodges within Oasis territory. We want to visit every one of them with an invitation to join us for Masonic Unity Night. If you discover an opportunity to present this program at a lodge for a group of lodges, please let us know. We are excited about doing that.

While describing this program to Winston Salem Shrine Club President, Terry Brown, he said you mean a “Masonic Unity Night”? I thought that was a perfect name. So thank you Terry. Many thanks also to Oasis Executive Director, Harvey Burgess, for composing and designing our brochure and program guide.

The Membership Team has fun activities like the one described here. We also have serious work such as contacting Nobles who might be at risk of leaving our fraternity. We need help planning a fundraising event for the Sunshine Fund. (dues relief for Nobles in need) The newly chartered SheikS club (new Shriners) needs officers. If you want to be a Shrine leader, The Membership Team will give you that opportunity. We are especially interested in new Shriners and young Shriners.
